Grifols Biomat USA, Inc. opened in August 2008. Biomat USA’s principal business is the collection of blood plasma from Tallahassee donors. Plasma center is a community-based business employing close to 35 associates from the immediate area and is contributing more than $3 million to the Tallahassee economy. Plasma collected at the Biomat plasma center is used to produce a number of medicines that treat rare, chronic and often life-threatening diseases such as hemophilia, primary immune deficiencies, and alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency.
