World Class Schools

World Class Schools of Leon County, Inc. (WCS) is a 501(c)(3) program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce created to involve business and civic leaders in the attainment of the highest levels of academic achievement in Leon County Schools (LCS). World Class Schools continues to enhance the educational experience of our students in Leon County.  The organization forges ahead to focus and hone the partnership between our local businesses and the LCS system.  The goal of WCS is to propel students to high academic standards and equip them with the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed as productive citizens.

 Talent Development

  • Tallahassee Future Leaders Academy (TFLA) – supporter of the City’s summer youth employment program to provide opportunities for youth to gain professional experience, personal and career development training while working 6 weeks this summer
  • Leon Works – Active engagement to connect community, employers, academic institutions and students to career changes, opportunities and certification needs in the categories of Health, Trade, Business and IT, and the Creative careers
  • Best & Brightest Awards – 153 scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement with community stewardship. An example of talent being developed for our future workforce and leadership
  • Peer Mentoring – Speaker and mentor of Florida State University College of Communication & Information Women In IT/ICT Sharing Experiences (WISE) and Women in Leadership Conferences

Teacher Engagement & Recruitment

  • Community Representative on the selection and interview team for Assistant Principal candidates pool
  • Providing advice and materials for Leon County Schools teacher recruitment team
  • Partner with the Superintendent’s Teacher Leader Summit on training and inspiring teachers to the next level of leadership in their schools and administration in Leon County Schools

The Best & Brightest

The Best & Brightest Awards was established in 2006 to recognize and honor Leon County’s excelling high school seniors.  This is a scholarship award program partnering with local Leon County area public and private high schools and World Class Schools of Leon County. Students are nominated in one of 15 categories:

CHP Champions

CHP Champions is a partnership between Capital Health Plan, the Titus Sports Academy, Leon County Schools and World Class Schools.  The CHP Champions program is an opportunity to invigorate students and strengthen our schools and community.  It’s based upon having fun with fitness and learning healthy habits that students will carry with them for a long time. World Class Schools is the administrative and fiscal agent for the CHP Champions program that is helping to address Leon County Schools’ wellness policy.
