Lifelong Learning Extravaganza

The fifth annual Lifelong Learning Extravaganza returns September 22-26. This weeklong series provides the opportunity for individuals to gain knowledge and familiarity with the art, culture and history of Tallahassee and the surrounding areas. Registration is open, and classes are filling quickly.

Registrants have the opportunity to select from more than 50 different activities, including classes, field trips, lectures, tours and more! Participants can attend classes on a pick-and-choose basis. Classes begin as early as 8 a.m. and run until well after the sun goes down. With the wide variety of session options, the L3X schedule provides flexibility for both working and retired adults.

The week kicks off at the Tallahassee Senior Center at 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, with a continental breakfast and mini session covering Tallahassee’s new Porch Swing Project. From there, the week expands with options both near and far. For those interested in selecting classes that have similar topics, 10 broad tracks are outlined in the L3X booklet to help you plan your week, and, as always, the offerings are designed to help participants learn about and interact with the wonders around them.

From a cruise along our coastal waters to hearing the tale of a 500-mile journey walking the Camino de Santiago, come awaken the explorer in you. To keep a curious mind engaged, there are options to help you examine everything from the rise and decline of stained glass to the antics, behaviors and idiosyncrasies of wild birds. If you like to keep your hands busy, put them to good use learning healthy updates to your favorite southern dishes or the fundamentals of drawing landscapes. Whether you want to be actively doing or simply sit quietly to enjoy the beauty of nature, you’ll find something to pique your interest at L3X!

A full schedule of tours and classes is available at Talgov.com/Seniors. All tours and courses vary in cost and are individually priced from $6 to $93.Transportation is provided from the Tallahassee Senior Center for certain field trips.
