The Chamber Awards
The Chamber Awards will be on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the University Center Club.
Now accepting nomations for the following Award Categories:
Entrepreneurial Start Up - A business that is in the early stages of its operations and that has not been in business for more than 36 months. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Locally Owned Retail - The retail business is the business sector in which goods are sold individually or in small quantities to consumers. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Manufacturing - Any industry that makes products from raw materials by the use of manual labor or machines and that is usually carried out systematically with a division of labor. Examples of manufacturing industries are those that produce aircraft, automobiles, chemicals, clothing, computers, consumer electronics, electrical equipment, furniture, heavy machinery, refined petroleum products, steel and tools. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Major Impact - This award is meant for businesses with more than 100 employees and which has been a game changer for our area. Businesses nominated should have helped move our community to the next level through job creation, improvement of environment, economic development and/or expansion of an industry sector.
Non-Profit/Association - A non-profit is a group organized for purposes other than generating profit and in which no part of the organization’s income is distributed to its members, directors, or officers. An association is listed as an organized body of people who have an interest, activity, or purpose in common. Non-profit/Association organizations include churches, public charities, public clinics, legal aid societies, volunteer services organizations, labor unions, professional associations, research institute and museums. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Research to Market - A business which has gone through the research and implementation phase while being paired up with a college/university. Nominees for this award need to be or have been directly associated with FSU Office of Commercialization, FAMU Office of Technology Transfer and will be nominated through these particular partners. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Service Industry - The service industry represents businesses that provide services rather than goods. Businesses including banking, communications, wholesale and all professional services such as engineering and medicine, all consumer services, and all government services. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Technology & Innovation - Business must have demonstrated development, adaptation and/or utilization of technology or created an innovative product which directly increased productivity, efficiency, revenue and/or profits. Business must have less than 100 employees.
