The Chamber Awards will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the University Center Club.
Entrepreneurial Start Up – A business that is in the early stages of its operations and that has not been in business for more than 36 months. Business must have less than 100 employees.
Locally-Owned - A locally owned business is one which provides goods or services to a local population. This business is not a part of a franchise, but there could be more than one location of the business. The business should be privately held, at least 50% of the business ownership living in our local area and registered in Florida with no corporate/national headquarters outside of region. Other guidelines include being able to make independent decisions regarding business name, look, business practices and marketing expenses without assistance from a corporate headquarters.
Manufacturing - Any industry that makes products from raw materials by the use of manual labor or machines and that is usually carried out systematically with a division of labor. Examples of manufacturing industries are those that produce aircraft, automobiles, chemicals, clothing, computers, consumer electronics, electrical equipment, furniture, heavy machinery, refined petroleum products, steel and tools.
Non-Profit/Association – A non-profit is a group organized for purposes other than generating profit and in which no part of the organization’s income is distributed to its members, directors, or officers. An association is listed as an organized body of people who have an interest, activity, or purpose in common. Non-profit/Association organizations include churches, public charities, public clinics, legal aid societies, volunteer services organizations, labor unions, professional associations, research institute and museums.
Service Industry – The service industry represents businesses that provide services rather than goods. Businesses including banking, communications, wholesale and all professional services such as engineering and medicine, all consumer services, and all government services.
Technology & Innovation – Business must have demonstrated development, adaptation and/or utilization of technology or created an innovative product which directly increased productivity, efficiency, revenue and/or profits.
Chamber Business of the Year – This award will be chosen from the winner of each category above.
