Furry Friends Bring Good Fortune on Friday the 13th
ASC offers Free Adoptions this Friday
Many people anticipate misfortune and bad luck on Friday the 13th. However, Tallahassee Animal Services hopes to change that by waiving adoption fees on all animals this Friday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This waived adoption fee spells good luck not only for pets, but for the people who adopt them as well.
Did you know that a black cat is actually considered good luck in Japan, Britain and Ireland? According to Chinese customs, dogs are a symbol of upcoming good fortune and cats can cast away evil spirits. Additionally, research has shown that pets can help improve your mood, lower your blood pressure and relieve stress.
While the benefits to you are numerous, the benefit to the animals adopted from the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (ASC) is that they get a loving family as their good luck charm, which will give them a healthy, happy life.
Potential adopters are encouraged to bring their own leash or carrier for transporting their new friend safely home. While the adoption fee is waived, dogs or cats not spayed/neutered at the time of adoption will still require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit.
Tallahassee Animal Services operates the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center and Animal Control as part of the City of Tallahassee’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department.
