Sacred Harp Singers

The Twenty first Annual Tallahassee Sacred Harp Singing will take place at the historic Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church here at the Museum. Sacred Harp, also known as shape-note singing or fasola, is a living tradition of a capella community hymn singing. Singers sit in a “hollow square” with treble, alto, tenor, and bass with one voice part on each. The walls of the church will ring with the sound of the unique Sacred Harp harmonies that have been described as haunting and deeply moving. Visitors and attendees are welcome to listen or to join in the singing. Singers that arrive with Sacred Harp hymn books will not be charged admission.
