WFSU "Be My Neighbor Day"

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! WFSU, The Fred Rogers Company, and Vroom are pleased to present “Be My Neighbor Day” – a special event bringing families and neighbors together – Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 10am to 2pm at The Centre of Tallahassee. It is a chance to meet families from all over our community. “We want to foster what we all have in common, a love of our children and the desire for all of our children to thrive and there is no better guide than Daniel Tiger,” says Kim Kelling, Director of Content and Community Partnerships. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on PBS KIDS is an animated program for preschoolers ages 2-4, which builds on the pioneering PBS series, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Children will have the chance to meet Daniel Tiger, watch episodes from the series and participate in numerous hands-on activities. Families will leave from this free event with lots of strategies to help children grow and be inspired to be a caring neighbor back in their own neighborhood.
WFSU is partnering with lots of terrific organizations that will provide activities and information for families. The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend, the United Way of the Big Bend, Whole Child Leon, Kids Incorporated and Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System are just some of participating organizations. Everyone has one goal in mind to engage children and families and have fun in the process! It’s never too early to find ways we can all work together to make our neighborhoods grrrr-ific places to learn and grow. Activities include planting seeds, creating community art, hand art, noodle crafts and so much more – some to be shared and some to keep! And thanks to the City of Tallahassee, families can take their very own trolley ride through the Centre of Tallahassee Neighborhood. Please join us this Saturday! There will be photo opportunities, fun prizes and oodles more! Cost: free, no tickets required. For additional information visit: http://www.wfsu.org/education/be-my-neighbor-day.
