ER for PR hosted by FPRA

The Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association is hosting ER for PR, its annual community event presented by Taproot Creative. This event is a full-day public relations/marketing-focused workshop designed to help Tallahassee businesses and nonprofits. The event will be Tuesday, Aug. 27  from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Florida Sheriffs Association Training Center, located at 2617 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
Local organizations may submit an application to participate in the morning portion of ER for PR, including one-on-one counseling sessions with PR experts.
Attendees will receive an “Emergency Kit” that includes tips from the experts and how to write a press release, a chance to bid on low-priced communication services at the silent media auction, an opportunity to speak with PR pros from the area, network with other nonprofits and local businesses in the area, as well as local area media members that all local non-profits and businesses should know. Morning
9:30-9:45 a.m. – Welcome
9:45-10:30 a.m. – PR 101 – Betsy Couch, APR, Adjunct Professor, Florida State University
10:30-11:30 a.m. – One-on-One Counseling Sessions

Afternoon
12-1 p.m. – Lunch, silent media auction
1-1:45 p.m. – Achieving Community Outreach Through Earned Media – Tom Flanigan, Community Relations Director for News, WFSU-FM/Florida Public Radio Network
1:45-2:30 p.m. – Guerrilla Marketing and Duct Tape – Lynsie Slachetka, Chief Digital Officer/Owner, Voxy Media Group
2:30-3:15 p.m. – Social Media Marketing: Moving from Networking to Enterprise – Jim Hunt, Vice President, Moore Communications Group
*Ticket needed for afternoon portion. Tickets are $50 for nonprofits and $60 for businesses. One ticket includes two admissions to lunch, a live media auction and the afternoon presentations.
