“Why don’t they understand?” “Are they not listening to me?” We’ve all had these thoughts when trying to communicate with others, and it can be frustrating to feel like you’re not being heard. There are things you can do, however, to improve your interpersonal conversation skills and become a better communicator. Join the Tallahassee Senior Center for a special Valentine’s Day program that will enhance the love and relationships in your life.
On Monday, Feb. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Paul Deitchman, Ph.D., will present “Enhancing Interpersonal Communication: Speaking a Language of Love” at the Tallahassee Senior Center. Dr. Deitchman is a former faculty member of Florida State University and is currently a psychologist in independent practice. He will facilitate an in-depth discussion about effective communication and strategies to make your interactions nonjudgmental, loving and constructive.
“This program is valuable for everyone personally, professionally and socially,” said Ruth Nickens, TSC health suite coordinator. “It’s about how we speak to each other in everyday situations. It’s trying to understand the emotions that drive the behavior of others.”
Reservations are required. Reserve today by calling 891-4045 or 891-4042; a $3 donation is appreciated for the program. Attendees can bring a brown bag lunch or reserve a catered lunch for $7.
