TCC to host benefit concert for Honor Flight Tallahassee

Tallahassee Community College will host a piano concert Thursday, May 29 to help raise funds for World War II veterans to travel to Washington, D.C.

Pianist Marvin Goldstein will perform from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Turner Auditorium. The musician and entertainer, who trained in Israel and Austria and has performed around the world, is an alumnus of Florida State University’s music program.

All proceeds will go to Honor Flight Tallahassee, which provides North Florida and South Georgia veterans free trips to the nation’s capital to visit the monuments memorializing the wars in which they participated. The group is part of a nationwide organization with the same mission.

“As a veteran myself, it is my pleasure to sponsor this concert in honor of the veterans to help raise money for these trips,” said North Florida Financial Corporation Senior Associate John Curry. The insurance and financial services professional, who traveled to Washington with Honor Flight on a previous occasion, is underwriting the event.

All tickets for the event are $25. In addition, attendees are encouraged to consider making a donation to help World War II veterans attend the concert. Doors open at 7 p.m. on May 29.

According to Curry, Honor Flight covers all meal, travel and support expenses for veterans. The trips are hosted in their honor to thank them for their service.
