Apalachee Center will recognize notable community advocates for behavioral healthcare with the presentation of awards at the 2nd Annual Community Hero Awards. The awards are given annually to Floridians who have demonstrated exemplary efforts to expand services and support for individuals living with mental illness.
“This year, we will be honoring three prominent public servants who have been at the forefront of improving behavioral healthcare access and service across Florida,” said Leon County Commissioner John Dailey, Chair of Apalachee Center’s Board of Directors. “Each of the award recipients has been recognized as an outstanding leader in efforts to ensure that individuals and families in this community and state receive the quality care that they need.”
Apalachee Center will present the awards to State Senator Denise Grimsley; Matt Hudson, Speaker pro tempore of the Florida House of Representatives; and Jane Johnson, Chief of Staff of the Florida Department of Children and Families at the 2nd Annual Community Hero Awards reception on February 10th at 6:00 p.m. Attendance is by invitation, and this event is free to members of the media.
