Tallahassee Fire Chief Cindy Dick is a native Floridian who moved to Tallahassee in 1978. Chief Dick began her career with the Tallahassee Fire Department in 1987 and rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief in 2005. She is the first woman to achieve the Fire Chief rank in Tallahassee, and among only a few in the State of Florida.
Chief Dick was named 2012 Florida Fire Chief’s Association, Fire Chief of the Year. In 2009, she received the BPW Florida Glass Ceiling Award. She was a Finalist for the Leadership Tallahassee Women of Distinction award in 2008 and a Tallahassee Community College Women‘s History Honoree in 2006.
