Dumbo: How a Flying Elephant Saved Disney

Friday, March 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Some poignant moments in animation history are seen in Dumbo, a 1941 hit by Walt Disney Studios. Florida State University professor Mary Lescher will discuss the film’s associations with the end of the Great Depression and the rumblings of World War II. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by an outdoor screening at 7:00 p.m. House tours will be offered after the showing. The program is co-sponsored by the Tallahassee Film Society. Admission is free of charge but concessions will be sold.
