The Knott House and the John G. Riley Museum commemorate the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Tallahassee with this annual event. The event features a reading of the document, reenactors, period music, and a picnic in Lewis Park. The event is sponsored by the City of Tallahassee; Hopping, Green, and Sams, P.A.; Sonny’s BBQ; the Friends of the Museum of Florida History, Inc.; COCA; and Tallahassee Downtown. The event is free and open to the public.
