Forgotten Coast Paddle Jam

On Saturday May 17th, 2014 we will attempt to set a World Record on the Apalachicola River by “rafting up” over 2,100+ kayaks. The event will take place at the confluence of the Apalachicola River and the Apalachicola Bay, 1/2 mile east of the Apalachicola Bridge.
There will also be events going on all weekend.
Forgotten Coast Paddle Jam 2014 is a three-day festival third weekend in May. The Forgotten Coast is unique and diverse ecosystem of water systems, forests, wetlands, coastal environs and human communities. Paddle Jam is a new festival celebrating the Forgotten Coast and helping those in need in a unique way through paddle sports, music & food. Paddle Jam is a “fluid festival” with events happening at various locations in Apalachicola and St. George Island.  So, if you “Love 2 Paddle… Paddle 2 Love,” we invite you to join with us at Forgotten Coast Paddle Jam 2014 !
During Paddle Jam we will attempt to set a new Guinness WORLD RECORD for the Largest Floating KAYAK RAFT.  The current record was set September 24, 2011, when 1,902 kayaks and canoes assembled on Fourth Lake in Inlet, N.Y.  On Saturday from noon-3:00pm we attempt to break the current record.  Paddle Jam will also showcase live local music and local food, and offer something for people who are passionate about life on the Forgotten Coast.  Proceeds from Saturday kayak events will go to helping “at risk” children, youth and families in need through the Outreach Ministries of the ASGI Cooperative Parish (850) 653-9530 http://www.paddle2love.com
