Get Down with the New Mayor and Commissioners

The community is invited to a special ceremony to install the newly elected Mayor and City Commissioners. For the first time, the ceremony will take place at a community event bringing the government closer to the people it serves. On Friday, November 21, at 6 p.m., the new Mayor and City Commissioners will take their Oath of Office at the Capital City Bank Downtown GetDown in front of City Hall on Adams Street.

Newly elected Mayor Andrew Gillum and Commissioner Curtis Richardson and re-elected Commissioners Nancy Miller and Gil Ziffer will all be sworn into office.

“This is going to be a very special ceremony and one that residents will remember,” said Mayor-elect Andrew Gillum. “Having the ceremony at a community event like the Downtown GetDown reaffirms this commission’s commitment to community, openness and transparency.”

Following the ceremony, Acme Rhythm and Blues will take the stage at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to don their patriotic best for this aptly themed Red, White and Blue GetDown benefitting the United Way of the Big Bend.

A pre-ceremony reception will commence at 5:15 p.m. in City Hall, located at 300 S. Adams Street. Parking is available in the Kleman Plaza garage.
