Leon County Hosts 2014 National Synchronized Diving Championship

Leon County will be the diver’s delight this Spring when more than 80 of the nation’s best divers compete in the USA Diving’s 2014 Synchronized Diving Championship, which is scheduled for Friday, April 11, through Sunday, April 13, at the Morcom Aquatics Center at Florida State University, 403 Stadium Dr. West.
 
Participants at the event compete for spots on the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Cup team. FINA is the world governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and open water swimming. The competition includes 3-meter springboard synchronized and synchronized 10-meter platform events.
 
The event resulted from a partnership with the Leon County Division of Tourism Development (also known as Visit Tallahassee), USA Diving and Florida State University (FSU).

Thanks to Lee Daniel and the Leon County Tourism Development team for the many community partnerships they’ve built in this process,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “These partnerships include the tremendous staff and facilities at Florida State University and City and County Parks staff and facilities. With major new developments like Leon County’s Apalachee Regional Park, we are creating an outstanding record of attracting high-caliber, major events to this area.”
 
Tickets for the event are available at Morcom Aquatics Center beginning April 11. Daily passes are $5 for adults and $3 for children 13 years and younger. All session passes are available for $15.
