Martin Luther King, Jr. Dare to Dream Festival

The Martin Luther King Dare to Dream Association, Inc. (MLK Dare to Dream Association), Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority (TDIA), Cumulus Broadcasting,The City of Tallahassee, and CRA are pleased to announce the 4th. annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Festival – Monday, January 18, 2016 – from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cascades Park. The event will follow the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., memorial march that happens each year in Tallahassee. The festival will allow the community to gather in fellowship while celebrating the life and legacy of the Civil Rights Movement leader and peace activist, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is a way to celebrate his dream and inspire others to pursue their own dreams.
The free event is open to the public and all ages are invited. There will be live music, vendors, theatrical performances, dancing and historical exhibits by the FAMU Meek-Eaton Black Archives and the Riley House. Kids are welcome to come out and participate in the “MLK Birthday Bash” which will feature bounce houses and face painting. The event will also showcase a variety of specialty item and food vendors in the “Vendor Village.”
In conjunction with the MLK festival, the City of Tallahassee’s Day of Dialogue will feature local non-profit organizations that offer opportunities for service and volunteer experience. The Day of Dialogue is an annual observance of the Mayor’s Initiative on Race, Culture and Human Relations that provides a forum to experience the diverse views and cultures of the Tallahassee community.
