Surviving Your First 3 Years as an Executive Director

New nonprofit Executive Directors and CEOs are faced with a myriad of challenges including, but not limited to: filling the big shoes of their predecessor (or walking into the mess that their predecessor left behind), learning the ins and outs of organizational systems that they inherited (good and bad), building a strong working relationship with the board of directors (!), getting to know staff members’ roles, strengths and weaknesses, familiarizing themselves with the organization’s donors and key community supporters, getting up to speed on the agency’s finances and contracts, identifying areas in which the organization might be out of compliance, and acting as the “face” of an agency that they may still be getting to know. This is a big list, and there can be major consequences for E.D.s and CEOs who fail to hit the ground running from Day One.
This workshop, presented by Kelly Otte, will provide new Executive Directors and CEOs with a “Survival Guide” for their first 1,000 days on the job. Attendees will learn what they need to know to go the distance while helping move their agency to the next level.
All are welcome to register. The cost is $25 for INIE members and $45 for non-members. Coffee and bagels will be served.
